In coaching, I call it a “structure.” It’s a tangible item that reminds us of something. For example, I have some of my dissertation students keep one of those “troll dolls” on their desks to remind them that they are bigger than their fears and negative voices that tell them they’ll never finish. I encourage some of my teen girl clients to wear a trigger word in a piece of jewelry (i.e. Powerful, Love, Runner…) that subtly reminds them of their strengths. And of course, I LOVE body positive clothing that allows us to show the world that we are beautiful just the way we are.
I’ve been a fan of Pigtail Pals clothing for a while– I was even wearing one of the “Redefining Girly” t-shirts today to the gym that depicts women in the military with the tag line “Don’t Fight With Girls.” My daughter wears a Pigtail Pals “Carpenter” onesie that I get such a kick out of that says “Ooops, I broke a nail.”
That’s why I’m so honored that Melissa Wardy of Pigtail Pals wrote a beautiful review of my book, Good Girls Don’t Get Fat: How Weight Obsession is Messing Up Our Girls & How We Can Help Them Thrive Despite It AND helped to create an amazing body positive t-shirt it it’s honor. How cool is this???
I know that if you and the girls you love are wearing this t-shirt, they can look down at it and smile about the message it sends. And, as you know from my book, the message you send out is what you get back. Others will surely remark on the powerful words and confident girl the t-shirt depicts. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
These are great gifts for the upcoming Holidays. Show some girls and women in your life that they are beautiful just the way they are with these awesome body positive t-shirts! I’ll be wearing mine!
